Let there be light … but make sure it’s the natural, healthy kind. An abundance of daylight lessens reliance on artificial light which can mess with our body clock. Light is the primary thing that affects our body clock - the main regulator of human health. While too-much night light can have adverse effects, more during the day could improve mood and wellbeing. Humans today challenge this, spending around 90 per cent of the day indoors under electric light which is too dim during the day and too bright at night. This is confusing our bodies and making us unwell. Getting more bright daylight during the day is a matter of making our homes more natural places in tune with instinctive ways in which people feel comfortable, happy and healthy.
