HANDS DOWN, THIS IS THE BEST NEW OCCASIONAL FURNITURE BRAND

Bragg & Co is an interior saviour.

April 22, 2019

Known for her timeless, classic interiors and love of patterns and colour, leading Australian interior designer Adelaide Bragg has added a new range to her hugely popular Bragg & Co line of home furnishings. Ideal for fast-tracking your interior look, the timeless, new custom occasional furniture, ‘Classic Range’ comes in raffia and gloss finishes which are guaranteed to switch up your rooms.

The focus is on beautiful, quality tables with bedsides, etagere, consoles and coffee tables which are elegant staples with clean lines, perfect proportions and attention to detail that are both useful and versatile.

Expect fad-free classics you can take through life that will suit all looks, and settings.

Customisation is at the core of the range with gloss pieces available in hundreds of shades that can be painted in any Dulux colour with a high-lacquer finish.

The Classic Range was created in response to Bragg’s struggle to source small tables in the perfect scale, colour or texture. “Scale and proportion are so important in any space yet can be so difficult to find. The development of this product was very considered; each piece fills what I perceive as a gap in the market – the result is that each piece is perfectly resolved. They work in all situations and are highly versatile and interchangeable, depending on the client’s needs,” said Bragg. Read more, ‘Inside A Gorgeously Restful Victorian Country House.’

Ideal to move from room to room, house to house.

The other consideration in creating the raffia and gloss furniture collection was colour and texture. Finding that a stained wood finish often doesn’t give enough personality or warmth to a space, Bragg utilises colour and texture in these new pieces, instilling an instant mood of intimacy and warmth.

“What I particularly love about these pieces is the option to introduce any chosen colour into an interior. Does the sitting room need a pop of high gloss canary yellow? We can custom paint to your requirements. Some soft textured raspberry for the bedroom? We will source the perfect tone of raffia,” says Bragg.

“For me, the most important thing when working with colour is to be timeless.”

“My intention is that my interiors always stand the test of time and this was also my aim when designing these furniture pieces. They are also highly practical pieces, with perfectly positioned shelves and drawers,” she continued. The simplicity of this range means they will not date and can evolve with the home over time.

Having long worked with natural seagrass wallpapers for their soft and subtle yet strong impact, Bragg’s initial intention was for this range to solely consist of raffia furniture, but her love of colour meant that it quickly expanded to include the high gloss line, available in any Dulux colour.

The current raffia range is available in naturals, pinks, greens and blues. “Full stop, I love raffia. The unevenness and naturalness allow you to use a very strong colour because the texture lends softness. Coloured furniture has not yet taken off in Australia, but I can see change seeping into our interiors here, and the gloss range adds the extra pop of colour needed in a space,” said Bragg.

The ability to mix texture and colour, adding subtle layering to a room, is something Bragg loves about The Classic Range, as it allows her to combine this new collection with her lamps. A high gloss table paired with an earthy lamp base or a raffia table with a glossy Bragg & Co. lamp provides a contrast important in the layering of a room, a skill Bragg is well-known for.

She has after all designed houses for Australia’s most prominent families, private clubs and style set – and knows what the Zeitgeist want.

Named after the Bragg & Co team members, Anna, Camilla, Jennifer and Charles, the pieces are elegant, practical and adaptable. All tables in the collection are produced with a beautiful ball foot, and are available in an array of finishes, which lend a classic and refined finish to the pieces.

Consider these one of the best for ultimate interior updates. It’s the most desirable occasional furniture we’ve seen in recent memory. We’re totally down! www.braggandco.com.au
