Melissa Penfold’s e-decor service is a quick hit of professional design advice, setting the design framework for a single room, for a lot less than usual. You share photos, measurements and inspirational images over the web, and all the work is completed via e-mail.
It's about engaging with design-savvy folk who are looking for a quicker, more affordable way of decorating their rooms, for less than a traditional decorator.
It's a flat-fee design service, that’s about sourcing the right door knob, fabric, furniture or paint colour for you and your interior. If it becomes a bigger project, and you want a hand in actually executing what we have suggested we hand you over to one of our preferred decorators who we think is perfect for your job.
Here’s a quick list of things you need to do to get going:
Select the room you’d like revamped. There is a transparent pricing system, that allows you to pick what suits you.
You help us plan the space by sending us photos via email of the room you want fixed, measurements of the room, plus inspirational images of your dream space.
You tell us the pieces you want to keep, the room's function and what you like, and we provide you with a shopping list plus simple guidelines to make your room a reality.
And you pick your budget: options included savvy, fabulous or luxe.
Communication is strictly via email.
First, we will need payment of your design fee in full. You tell us what you want done. We send you an invoice. You pay us via direct debit.
Once payment has been received, we get to work immediately on your project. Approximately two to three weeks later, we provide a comprehensive inspiration sheet, including a shopping list of furniture and accessories within your budget (you can ask for up to three substitutions).
The shopping, reupholstery and installation is then completely in your hands.
How long will it take for me to receive my inspiration sheet?
Your Melissa Penfold inspiration sheet with shopping list and step-by-step instructions will arrive approximately two-three weeks from the date Melissa Penfold receives your design tasks (questionnaire, home images, room measurements/floor plan and inspiration images) and full payment.
What does the design fee include?
The design fee covers your Melissa Penfold inspiration sheet, which includes whatever quick-fix you have specified; from door knobs to paint colours to furniture solutions for a room plus the easy-to-follow installation steps. Your design fee does not cover the cost of any products specified.
If I have extra questions or want to add information during the time my room is being revamped, how do i do this?
We’d love you to tell us in the comment section of the questionnaire any specific needs or requirements. Otherwise, send messages via email during the process, and they will be answered promptly.
I want to change the room being revamped. I have sent in my questionnaire, measurements and inspiration images. Can I transfer my design fee to a different room and start again?
You can change rooms while you are still in the process of completing your design tasks. Once they have been submitted and we have begun work, no further changes can be made.
I have submitted all my information and changed my mind. Do you give refunds? How do I let Melissa Penfold e-decor know that I want to cancel my room?
Yes, you may cancel your design services for a full refund, except that such right shall expire upon the earlier of (i) the seventh (7) calendar day after the date of purchase or (ii) the date on which Melissa Penfold e-decor begins receiving personal submissions (eg. room photos, room measurements, inspirational photos). Subject to the foregoing, if you wish to cancel your purchase, you must notify us of your decision to cancel at melissapenfold.com We will promptly thereafter notify you of the cancellation number.
Once my Melissa Penfold inspiration sheet is delivered, will I still be able to communicate with you? What if I want to make some changes to your selections?
Our aim is to deliver a style solution that delights you. We are happy to accommodate changes up to a maximum of three specification substitutions per room/job.
How do I know if the furnishings you specify will fit in my room?
It is important you are accurate when measuring your room. We rely upon the information you send in order to create your designs. Please make sure you measure everything including door openings. We can’t be responsible for any incorrect information provided to us. We strongly recommend that you re-measure prior to placing product orders.
